When it comes to the great outdoors the jury is not out – it’s decided that the New Forest is the best place to enjoy the great outdoors in the south east of England.

In a survey of 500 people, conducted by digital marketing agency Goat, 34 per cent of those aged 55 and over said the New Forest was their top choice for outdoor visits in the south east region.

Ben Robson, co-founder of the Brighton-based digital marketing agency, said: “We discovered that this glorious location is popular amongst all ages and was a clear winner in our survey.

“As you admire the timeless scenery it’s easy to see why it’s such a popular holiday beauty spot. There is a wealth of places to visit and explore in the New Forest, from award-winning gardens and museums, to leisure and wildlife parks. Each season provides a change of scene from the next; from the rich deep colours of spring and summer to the seasons of mists and mellow fruitfulness we have now.

“We’re incredibly lucky to have so much natural beauty, heritage and well conserved locations in which to enjoy the great outdoors right on our doorstep, and as an agency that cares about health and wellbeing, we believe it’s important to promote a positive work life balance in all that we do, which is why we devised this survey to shine the spotlight on the region’s favourite places to enjoy the outdoors.”

Anthony Climpson, Destination Manager of The New Forest, commented: “It’s always an honour to receive an award, and what makes this one special is that it comes from people in the south east, who have shown they remain enchanted by the New Forest.

“We know that the natural beauty and magical atmosphere of the area is what draws our visitors in, but when they are here it’s the quality accommodation, delicious local food and world-class attractions that keep them coming back – plus new events, such as our first ever Food & Drink Festival Week, which is taking place this autumn.”
