The Passford House Hotel is situated on a quiet country road between the New Forest village of Sway and the port town of Lymington so providing both the New Forest on the doorstep for hotel guests, along with the sea and ferry access to the Isle of Wight just a few minutes’ drive away.
The hotel was once the Country House residence for Lord and Lady Cecil, the private secretary to Queen Victoria. Some of the original features of this era still remain with the Pet Cemetery and the hotel’s kitchen garden which is now back in full use after many decades.
The hotel’s kitchen gardens now help to provide produce for the daily special’s menu with home grown radishes, beetroot, heritage carrots, rainbow chard, Jerusalem artichokes and much more to compliment the locally sourced meat and fish.
Some guests refer to the hotel as being almost ‘Dickensian’, we’re hoping that this is a compliment, either way it certainly feels like you’re stepping back in time to a less rushed way of life when you come through the front door! With the oak panelled ‘Oak Lounge’ and the selection of roaring fires in the many lounges in the winter months to relax in front of, you certainly get the feeling of being in a traditional Country House.
The ten acres of gardens are a marvel to explore, whether it’s the beautiful Courtyard Garden, our Monet Meadow and Garden with its Japanese bridge and lake, or even just having some fun on the putting green, croquet lawns or tennis court. You may even witness a helicopter or two landing on our helipad!
The Passford House Hotel is the perfect spot to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea, or a stopover for a relaxing break in peace and tranquillity, still within easy access to local tourist attractions.
